I absolutely love to dance!
Dancing is so incredibly liberating. Dance allows me to express myself in ways I don’t have to explain to anyone. It allows me to let loose, focus on the present, and ignore everything else.

I have been dancing since I was 3 years old at In The Spotlight and competing as a member of the Spotlight Dance Squad since I was 8. I spend countless hours training in the studio and practicing with my teammates every week as well as competing at dance conventions on weekends. While it may seem daunting to some, I find dance to be simultaneously intellectually stimulating, physically challenging, and emotionally freeing.

While my studio is known for its tap program, we focus on a variety of dance genres to express our creativity and demonstrate our expertise. Tap requires a physical and intimate relationship between my feet and the floor. I revel in creating different rhythms and delight in the ways they blend with the music. Jazz is very technical but also fun and freeing. I wholly embrace the energy and passion of the music. Ballet is extremely precise and demanding, offering little room for mistakes but unlimited space for improvement. Finally, hip-hop combines the various dance styles I’ve studied since I was 3 years old into a raw, energetic expression of my emotions.
